How much does a CPA charge to prepare a tax return?
Nationally, CPA-prepared individual returns typically run a few hundred dollars, with business returns higher. Our pricing is flat and public: personal returns start at $300 and business returns at $1,000 — see the Pricing page for the full list. You get an exact quote before any work starts.
Is a CPA worth it compared to TurboTax?
If you have one W-2 and take the standard deduction, software is honestly fine. The math changes once there's a business, rental, multiple states, investments, or back years — situations where a professional typically finds more than the fee, and where mistakes get expensive.
When should I get started on my taxes?
Earlier than you think. Planning moves — retirement contributions, timing income and expenses — mostly have to happen before December 31. For filing itself, sending documents in January or February means you're done early, not rushing an extension in April.
Can you deal with the IRS for me?
Yes. Notices, audits, back taxes, payment plans — we respond to the IRS on your behalf so you're not navigating it alone. Every situation is different, so this work is quoted individually.
